Outside of Fosse’s creepy, serpentine performance (and even this was self-indulgent and overlong) and a few moments of Wilder’s “Fox,” the Little Prince is remarkably dull. The lead is marble-mouthed and I lost most of his dialogue in the film, not that any of it was very important anyway. The fact that the two main characters are lost in the Sahara desert with no water never seems important until the script calls for in to be. There’s rarely any sense of danger or suspense to the film. It’s a bad example of what some people think children’s entertainment needs to be: harmless fluff with more effort put into the costumes than the writing. Two stars.
